Seattle, WA – July 8, 2020 –  Kin On Health Care Center (Kin On) CEO Nigel Lo has announced his plans to retire, effective January 1, 2021. The search for Nigel’s replacement will commence immediately, led by the Kin On Board of Directors.

During his tenure, which began in 2018, Nigel has been the driving force behind Kin On’s recent growth and success including overseeing the launch of the supportive housing program, providing board leadership for Aging in PACE Washington (AiPACE) – a joint partnership between International Community Health Services (ICHS) and Kin On, and its $20 million capital campaign, and giving much-needed guidance during a global pandemic. He also helped secure $750K in funding to replace the entire HVAC system for Kin On’s nursing home.

“When Nigel took over the CEO position in 2018 with a three-year commitment, we all thought he had some big shoes to fill,” said Dennis Lam, Kin On Board President. “But not only has Nigel successfully filled out the big shoes left behind by Sam Wan, he has also left indelible marks on Kin On over his tenure and put Kin On in a strong position to meet future challenges faced by all long-term care providers.”

“Leading Kin On for the past three years has been one of the most significant and rewarding experiences in my life,” said Lo. “I have been humbled by the commitment and hard work of our people and their dedication to serving the aging community. When I retire, I want to create memories with my family and to spend quality time with my mother, who now lives in a long-term care facility in Canada.”

“On behalf of the board of directors, I want to sincerely thank Nigel for his leadership and vision and wish him well in retirement,” Lam added.

Kin On’s Board of Directors has assembled a Search Committee to begin the process in identifying a successor to lead and further the mission of the organization. Kin On is committed to leading with equity and transparency throughout the process. The job description and information for interested parties is now available on the Kin On website at kinon.org/current-openings. All communication with the committee regarding the search should be directed to Allie Chen at careers@kinon.org.
