As an organization that has been serving the aging Asian community for 35 years, Kin On honors, respects, and cares deeply about preserving the dignity and value of human life. We are deeply saddened and outraged by the recent murders and the continued systemic injustices that plague our country. Kin On stands with communities of color against injustices, and we share in the grief, anger, and frustration that is being felt by many.

As Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, we are no strangers to the effects of racism and injustices throughout our history in this country. Yet we must also recognize that our fight for social justice and the privileges we have gained were built alongside the efforts of African American/Black activists. We must continue to challenge all forms of racism as it exists in our society, and in ourselves. As a community, let’s stand with and lift up marginalized communities to fight for a safe, inclusive, and equitable society.

  • Read the ACLU’s manual – Fighting Police Abuse: A Community Action, which offers a guide for communities of color to reform their local law enforcement relationships and standards
  • Register for a Bystander Intervention Training, offered by Hollaback! in partnership with Asian Americans Advancing Justice. Although focused on anti-Asian hate crimes, they also offer broad strategies for intervention
