The Washington State Legislature has approved $1.5 million to construct a new senior care facility on North Beacon Hill. This award represents a tremendous milestone towards the $20 million capital campaign for AiPACE, a joint partnership between Kin On Health Care Center (Kin On) and International Community Health Services (ICHS).

“We’re thrilled and grateful to have gained state support in bringing innovative health care to keep our seniors living independently at home, in the community they love,” said Heidi Wong, AiPACE capital campaign manager. “This will help us leverage additional support from the local level and private sector as well!”

A successful campaign will result in a 25,000-square-foot senior care facility built on the vacant north parking lot of Pacific Hospital as part of a larger development to include affordable housing and an early childhood center.

AiPACE will provide integrated health care to allow seniors “age in place” with easy access to preventive, primary, long-term care, and support services to participants and their caregivers. Studies have shown that participants in this care model report being happier, healthier and more independent than their counterparts in other care settings.

“Our state legislators have made an important investment in our future,” said Ron Chew, ICHS Foundation director. “With AiPACE we can begin to create a more vibrant model of care for seniors.”
