COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Update: June 10, 2022

In our continuing efforts to keep everyone safe and informed on the COVID-19 conditions, Kin On has the following updates to share with you.

Current Status

After testing all residents and staff again on Monday and Wednesday this week, we have had zero new positive COVID results at the Rehab & Care Center.

Measures Taken

For Rehab & Care Center, we continue to test all staff and residents three times a week, and immediately if anyone begins experiencing any signs or symptoms that could be COVID-19. Any staff member that is in a resident care area is also required to wear a fit-tested N95 face mask and eye protection.

Even with all of these precautions, we have found ourselves dealing with positive COVID cases. Because of this, our Communications Task Force has come up with the following directions:

We believe that another safety precaution we must take is to resume testing all outside guests who enter the Rehab & Care Center portion of Kin On. Vendors and visitors alike will be asked to take a rapid COVID test before entering the building.
- Beginning on Monday, June 13, we will have a testing station set up in the area between our front doors. We will ask that guests step outside to swab their noses and put the specimen into the solution – then wait inside that area or outside entirely – for 15 minutes and then show the results to our staff member.
- If a guest is tested positive, they will not be allowed to enter or visit and will be asked to leave the building for the safety of our residents and staff.
Because testing supplies are limited, we are asking that anyone who has testing supplies at home please bring those with you to use before your visit inside the building. This will help us to extend the supply we have in the building as we are testing all employees, residents, and volunteers three times a week.
- It is important to not do the test until you are actually at the building because some of the tests go bad after a certain amount of time, and we need to validate the results of the tests before allowing entrance to the building.
- If you do not have any testing materials to bring and use, we will provide tests.

We are also encouraging limiting the length of direct visits with residents because we know that prolonged exposure greatly increases a person’s chance of becoming ill. Many people have begun experiencing cold/flu symptoms 3-5 days before actually testing positive for COVID, meaning they are unintentionally exposing people to the COVID virus for those 3-5 days that the virus is incubating in their system before the test turns positive.
- The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends spending less than 15 minutes with someone in a confined area to avoid prolonged exposure. We will not enforce 15-minute visiting time limits, but we are encouraging shorter visits for the safety of our residents.
We will be enforcing our policy of no more than 3 visitors at one time. More than 3 visitors in a space is simply too confined to keep social distancing and increases the probability of exposure to all communicable germs – not just COVID.
- We will also be encouraging visits to take place outside of the residents’ rooms. We have designated several visiting areas inside the building so residents can enjoy private visits with their loved ones without being confined to their rooms.
- If a resident is in quarantine, the visit will have to take place inside the resident’s room, but if quarantine is not an issue, we hope people will take advantage of other spaces we have set up for visits.
- If there are extenuating circumstances (like visitors from out of town who come in a family group of 4-6) please call our social services department ahead of the visit so we can make special arrangements in a larger area to accommodate more than 3 visitors while keeping the social distancing practice intact.

In our continuing efforts to keep everyone safe and informed on the COVID-19 conditions, Kin On has the following updates to share with you.

Current Status

As of May 11, 2022, we have a few residents and staff members at the Rehab & Care Center the tested positive for COVID-19. The families of each of these residents have been notified individually. Staff members who are tested positive are all off work and self-quarantined for 10 days.

Visitation

For Rehab & Care Center, visitation is still allowed, although this is subject to change depending on guidance from the King County Public Health. We recommend not visiting through the outbreak for the safety of yourself and your loved one. If you do choose to visit, masks are mandatory and if your loved one is in a quarantined room, you will have to wear goggles, gloves, and a gown in addition to your mask.

Measures Taken

For Rehab & Care Center, we continue to test all staff and residents three times a week, and immediately if anyone begins experiencing any signs or symptoms that could be COVID-19. Communal dining, group activities, and therapy in the gym are temporarily suspended. Residents will be provided one on one activities by our activity personnel, and therapy will be provided in the resident rooms.

In our continuing efforts to keep everyone safe and informed on the COVID-19 conditions, Kin On has the following updates to share with you.

Vaccination

We are happy to announce that we completed our third vaccination clinic on Feb. 19. Most of our staff and residents completed two doses of the vaccine. We will work with the Department of Health on the arrangement for ongoing vaccination for newly admitted residents and new hires.

While the vaccination plan in our state is well underway, we continue to take all necessary precautions, including wearing personal protective equipment and conducting regular testing, to ensure the safety of our residents and staff.

Current Status

We have the following current active* COVID-19 cases:

Rehab & Care Center – 1 staff recovering at home (no new cases from staff and residents)
Assisted Living – no new cases from staff and residents
Home Care – no new cases from staff and clients

Our Rehab & Care Center has no new confirmed cases for more than 28 days (two incubation periods). As of Feb. 25, King County Public Health has issued an official clearance for our COVID-19 outbreak status.

Visitation

We continue to follow the existing guidance from CDC, CMS, and our state’s DOH for visitation and infection control practices. We have now resumed family food drops and window visits. And as always, we offer visitations using our technology (FaceTime, Zoom, calls, etc.) Compassionate care visits continue to be available.

We are encouraged by the fact that COVID-19 cases have declined over the last month. In the future, we will communicate our most up-to-date COVID-19 status on an as-needed basis. Vaccination

The majority of our staff and residents have received their 2^nd dose. Our 3^rd vaccine clinic is scheduled onsite on Feb. 19. We continue to encourage employees to get vaccinated. Kin On is also working closely with the Aging and Disability Services to ensure that older adults with the greatest needs and caregivers have access to COVID-19 vaccines.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated guidelines for individuals who have been fully vaccinated to state they no longer have to quarantine after being exposed to someone with COVID-19. See details.

Current Status

Rehab & Care Center – 4 staff recovering at home (no new cases from staff and residents)
Assisted Living – no new cases from staff and residents
Home Care – 1 staff recovering at home, 2 clients (no new cases from staff and clients)

Measures Taken

All of our staff are being tested via PCR (lab) testing per the regulations and protocol, currently testing once per week
Nursing staff (and other staff who would have close contact with residents) get tested via the rapid antigen test prior to every shift
Admission has resumed. A 14-day quarantine period and precaution protocol may apply to newly admitted residents

Measures Taken

All of our staff are being tested via PCR (lab) testing per the regulations and protocol. As the recent outbreak is stabilizing and most residents and staff have been vaccinated, starting from Monday Feb. 8, PCR testing schedule will be adjusted to once per week. For nursing staff (and other staff who would have close contact with residents) will be getting the rapid antigen test prior to every shift.

Update: January 30, 2021

In our continuing efforts to keep everyone safe and informed on the COVID-19 conditions, Kin On has the following updates to share with you.

Vaccination

Residents and staff at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center and Kin On Supportive Housing, along with our admin staff, received their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Friday, Jan. 29. A few staff members who missed the first dose were vaccinated as well. There was no adverse event reported for both residents and staff, and we will continue to monitor all residents for any post-clinic side effects. Our next vaccine clinic is scheduled onsite on Feb. 19. Vaccination for our personal care aides has started and we are also helping clients in our community get vaccinated. We believe we are one step closer to a sense of normalcy, but there is still more work to be done before in-person visitation can resume.

Rehab & Care Center – 7 staff recovering at home; 23 residents, 16 residents eligible for discharge from isolation by the end of next week
Assisted Living – 1 staff recovering at home

Measures Taken

As the Puget Sound Region will move into Phase 2 of the “Healthy Washington” plan on Monday, Feb. 1, all staff are encouraged to socially distance and practice good hygiene

Vaccination

Rehab & Care Center – 9 staff recovering at home (no new cases from staff); 22 residents and 2 residents suspected positive for COVID-19, 7 residents eligible for discharge from isolation

Measures Taken

N95 Masks are required for all staff working on the designated units
Full droplet precautions (gloves, gown, mask, and eye protection) for all direct resident contact
Hallways and other common areas are sanitized using the UV-C disinfection system
Infection Control Specialist from King County Public Health is scheduled to visit on Jan. 25

In our continuing efforts to keep everyone safe and informed on the COVID-19 conditions, Kin On has the following updates to share with you.

Vaccination

Our personal care aides from the home care group are able to get their vaccines from a list of COVID-19 vaccine providers. A majority of them have received or scheduled their first dose. The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses, 21 days apart. We will have two more clinics, one on Jan. 29 and the other in February on-site. We will continue to encourage employees to get vaccinated.

Vaccination

The majority of our residents and staff at Kin On Rehab & Care Center and Kin On Assisted Living, along with our admin staff, received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine Friday, Jan. 8. Thanks to Walgreens and our team, the vaccination clinic went smoothly. There was no adverse event reported for both residents and staff, and we will continue to monitor all residents for any post-clinic side effects. We believe getting the vaccine is a momentous step for a population that has suffered greatly during this pandemic.

Our first COVID-19 vaccination clinic is scheduled for Friday, January 8, 2021. Two subsequent dates are also tentatively scheduled. What we know at this time is that Walgreens will come out to vaccinate all of our staff and residents. They will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, a series of 2 shots, 21 days apart.

Next Steps

According to DOH, we are getting the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in Washington State. Kin On has partnered with Walgreens to provide and administer the vaccines to the residents and staff at our facilities. Vaccination for the long-term care facilities in WA will start the week of Dec. 28, and it will take three weeks before the first dose is done with all the long-term care facilities. We are in the process of gathering consent forms for relevant staff and residents. The exact date for Kin On to receive the vaccines hasn’t been identified yet.

Current Status

As of December 10, 2020, we have the following that have tested positive for COVID-19:

Measures Taken

These are the NEW steps we have taken to contain and prevent future spread of the virus for the nursing home and supportive housing:

The residents with COVID-19 in the nursing home are in stable condition and have been placed in isolation rooms within a designated zone in the facility
All of our staff in the Nursing Home are being tested via PCR (lab) testing per the regulations and protocol, and currently testing every 3-7 days until no new cases are identified for a 14-day period
Rapid antigen tests are being used to supplement PRC testing

All our on-site staff are wearing masks, socially distancing and practicing good hygiene. We continue to follow CDC and Washington State Department of Health regulations and practices. Current Status

As of December 3, 2020, we have the following that have tested positive for COVID-19:

Nursing Home – 4 residents, 3 staff
Home Care – 2 clients, 3 staff

Measures Taken

These are the steps we have taken to contain and prevent future spread of the virus for the nursing home and supportive housing:

The residents with COVID-19 in the nursing home are in stable condition and have been placed in isolation rooms
A team of dedicated nursing staff are being assigned to provide care for the residents with COVID-19
The environmental department has thoroughly sanitized the affected station
PPE protocols are being reinforced to emphasize that all residents must wear masks when outside their rooms and staff must wear appropriate PPE at all times in the facility
The nursing staff that have tested positive are resting at home and will follow our return to work policy based on CDC’s guidance
All of our staff in the Nursing Home are being tested per the regulations and protocol
All staff are encouraged to socially distance and practice good hygiene

These are the steps we have taken to contain and prevent future spread of the virus for home care:

The home care staff that have tested positive are resting at home and will return once they test negative and after a quarantine of 2 weeks
We are providing alternative services outside the client’s home that could be done over the phone and through other technology if possible
All staff on-site at the client’s homes are asked to adhere to wearing masks, gloves and face shields as well as to socially distance when possible and practice good hygiene
All staff will be testing bi-weekly and will inform the office immediately should they develop symptoms and they will get tested and will quarantine at home for 2 weeks
Should our clients have COVID symptoms or have tested positive, our staff will suspend services until the clients have tested negative and quarantined for 2 weeks

These are the steps we have taken to contain and prevent future spread of the virus for all other staff:

All Corporate staff on-site are being tested per the nursing home regulations and protocol (until further notice from the State)
Corporate, Development, Social Services, and Healthy Living staff that are working remotely will test on a monthly basis and on an as needed basis

Update: November 25, 2020

We have been working hard to keep everyone updated on actions we are taking to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 at Kin On. We remain committed to providing you the latest information during this time and have a few updates we would like to share.

COVID-19
Based on the latest test results, one resident at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center has tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is in stable condition and has a good appetite. The resident is under close supervision by designated nursing staff. The room has been thoroughly sanitized and sealed.

As of Nov. 24, three staff members at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center have tested positive for COVID-19. They are currently remaining at home under the supervision of their personal physicians.

Our housekeeping team has been stepping up to provide deep cleaning in the building with an Electrostatic Disinfection Sprayer. COVID-19 testing protocols will continue at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center and every resident and staff will be tested on a weekly basis.

As of Nov. 23, three personal care aides and two clients with the Kin On Home Care program have tested positive for COVID-19. All staff members are currently remaining at home under the supervision of their personal physicians.

For the health and safety of our residents, clients, and staff we have imposed the highest level of precaution in every setting based on the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and State Department of Health.

Update: November 18, 2020

COVID-19
We were made aware on Nov. 17, 2020, that a staff member at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center has tested positive for COVID-19 and is demonstrating mild symptoms. Later in the day, a personal care aide at the Kin On Home Care program also tested positive for COVID-19 but is asymptomatic. Both staff members are currently remaining at home under the supervision of their personal physicians.

We have notified public health officials as required and are following procedures as recommended. We are working closely with the Department of Health (DOH), King County Public Health, and Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), and Aging and Disability Services (ADS). We have also called the responsible parties who might have had contact with the staff members.

The Kin On COVID-19 taskforce is on top of the situation and will follow the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) guidelines for responses to an outbreak. We want to make residents, clients, their families, and our dedicated staff aware of this situation and reassure everyone that we are on top of it.

COVID-19 testing protocols will continue at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center and every resident and staff will be tested to ensure there are no additional cases present. We will keep you apprised of the results as they are available.

Statewide Restrictions
On Nov. 15, 2020, Gov. Jay Inslee issued new statewide restrictions on social gatherings and businesses in response to the surge of COVID-19 across Washington state and the country through Dec. 14, 2020. Small, private social gatherings with family and friends might feel safe, but they have contributed a large part to the most recent surge in cases. We need all of us to continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing to keep our community safe and healthy.

COVID-19 TESTING
Kin On Supportive Housing has completed the COVID-19 testing of our residents and staff on Sep. 9, fulfilling the State’s requirement of universal testing of all assisted living facilities. We are grateful to have the International Community Health Services (ICHS) supported us in this process.

As part of the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) COVID-19 testing requirement for nursing homes, Kin On Rehab & Care Center completed the routine testing for all staff members and contractors on Sep. 16 and 17.

At this time, we have no new positive cases to report.

VISITS
In responding to the latest CMS guidance for Nursing Home Visitation, we have resumed indoor visitation for residents’ families. All visitors need to adhere to our visitation policy. For visitation scheduling at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center, please call (206) 721-3630. Indoor visitation will soon be available at the Kin On Supportive Housing once we finalize the protocol.

Kin On Rehab & Care Center has completed the COVID-19 testing of our residents and staff on Jun. 11 and Jun. 12, fulfilling the State’s requirement of universal testing of all nursing homes.

A total of 208 specimens were collected and tested. All residents, contractors, and staff members have tested negative, with an exception that one staff member has tested with an “inconclusive” result. The staff tested with an “inconclusive” result on Jun. 11 went for another test on Jun. 16. Their result came back negative. Currently, the staff member exhibits no signs and symptoms and is on a 14-day self-quarantine as a precaution, and will follow the “Return to Work” protocol.

We are grateful to have the International Community Health Services (ICHS), mobilizing their team quickly to make this testing possible. We will continue to follow the State’s requirement of universal testing for the Assisted Living facility without memory care when details become available.

As our state slowly reopens, it’s of utmost importance to make sure the wellbeing of our elders and the hardworking care staff remains a top priority. We need all of us to continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing to keep our community safe and healthy.

After preparations to help ensure our residents’ and staff’s safety, Kin On Rehab & Care Center has resumed admission that was previously suspended in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All new admissions and readmissions will be required two consecutive negative tests before acceptance. Newly admitted residents will be on isolation precaution for 14 days.

We are also currently working on resuming admission for our Supportive Housing program.

In addition, on May 28, the state Department of Health (DOH) issued an order that will require universal testing within long term care facilities. Residents and staff in nursing homes will be tested within approximately two weeks, with a completion goal date of June 12. We will work closely with the state and local public health officials to achieve this directive. Kin On Assisted Living does not have memory care units and testing details for facilities like ours have not been announced yet.

Kin On will continue to keep the new safety protocols in effect, in which everyone inside our facility will wear a mask and have their symptoms checked daily. Visitations remain restricted until Phase 4 in following Governor Inslee’s “Safe Start” plan, a phased approach to recovery.

Thank you to all our community members, for your dedication, hard work, and commitment, today and every day.

Per our update on April 6, a staff member working in our Rehab & Care Center had tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member is currently recovering at home under the supervision of their personal physician. Following procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and local health agencies, we identified all people who have come into contact with the employee. As a result, 32 residents and six staff members received COVID-19 testing on April 11, and all test results came back negative. We appreciate King County Public Health to have made testing available for Kin On at this critical time.

We thank you for your cooperation and compliance with necessary preventative measures we can all practice, such as proper hand hygiene, social distancing, and staying home when sick. We will continue to provide you with periodic updates with as much information as we can on our efforts to combat COVID-19.

Dear Kin On friends and families,

We have been working diligently to keep everyone updated on actions we are taking to reduce the risk of exposure to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) at Kin On.

Today, we have been made aware that a staff member at the Kin On Rehab & Care Center has tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday on April 5. We have notified public health officials as required and are following procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. We have also called the responsible parties of any resident who might have had contact with the staff member. The staff member is recovering at home under the supervision of their personal physician.

Kin On’s COVID-19 Task Force continues to actively monitor the developing COVID-19 situation, including daily screening of our staff prior to beginning their work shift. We are taking every step as recommended by authorities to contain the spread and following King County Department of Health rules on who can get tested and are advocating for broadening the scope of testing. We want to make residents, their families, and our dedicated staff aware of this situation and reassure everyone that we are on top of it.

Developments are changing day by day, minute by minute. Our focus remains on the health and well-being of our community. We must also recognize our team for the concern and commitment they have shown to our residents during this challenging time. Our mission has never been more meaningful.

We ask that everyone – our residents, clients, and staff – do all that they can to support our community by following the recommendations set forth by the CDC:

Social distancing and staying home if possible
Washing hands for 20 seconds with soap and water
Self-isolating if showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19
Seek medical assistance as necessary

Every day, even every hour brings us new updates on COVID-19. The spread of the disease has grown quickly across our country over the past week and is forcing changes in how we go about our daily lives.

For the last thirty-five years, residents and clients in our care are depending on all of our employees to deliver the essential care and services each day. We deeply appreciate each and every single one in our team for their commitment and dedication to protecting and caring for hundreds of at-risk clients and residents of Kin On during these uncertain times.

To date, we do not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 among any of the residents in our care or any member of our staff, and we want to keep it that way.

What we are doing:

Working with state health agencies to ensure we have full infection measures in place.
Stretching our resources to secure adequate personal protective equipment.
Restricting visitors to the highest possible extent, except for compassionate situations.
Being creative in connecting families and residents.
Providing virtual Healthy Living wellness programs and connections with members through check-in calls, Zoom meet-ups, and YouTube livestreams.
Encouraging social distancing, hand hygiene, and self-monitoring of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of this illness throughout our community.
Offering office and admin staff to work remotely.
Supporting workers on-duty by providing meals and other resources as much as possible.

How you can help:

Be Informed: Visit CDC and King County Public Health for current coronavirus information.
In-Kind Donation: Send us items needed to ensure the well-being of frontline staff, such as disposable face masks, isolation gowns, and disinfecting wipes.
Financial Support: Make a donation to our Response Fund and note “COVID-19 Fund” on the page as we work on building up supplies and provide various support for our staff.

Kin On continues to closely monitor the developing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Washington State. To date, we do not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 among any of the residents in our care or any member of our staff. This is the case for all our facilities and departments, including our skilled nursing and home care services.

We are working in consultation with King County and State Department of Health agencies and the Centers for Disease Control to monitor conditions and follow the most current recommendations.

In a letter dated March 10 from Pinnacle, building management of International House (IH), an affordable independent senior housing apartment on 6th and Maynard South in Chinatown-International District, stated that one of their employees has tested positive with COVID-19, with two other staff under quarantine who were in close contact with that employee.

Kin On was made aware of the situation on March 11 and have put a temporary pause on providing in-home care services at this location until we can understand the situation and what course of action is required.

Unfortunately, a rumor has been circulating on WeChat that a Kin On health care staff has been confirmed to have COVID-19 and went into the building. This claim is confirmed to be false. No employee of Kin On has been tested positive with COVID-19.

Local community organizations including Kin On, ICHS, CISC, ACRS, and SCIDpda, who have clients in the building are naturally concerned, and are monitoring this situation closely and are actively working with public health officials to provide support as needed.

The news about the spread of this new disease is concerning for us all, and we recognize that media and rapidly evolving conditions related to COVID-19 create fear, uncertainty, and anxiety in our community. It is important to emphasize that we follow reputable resources such as King County Public Health for ongoing updates pertaining to our region.

We ask for your support while we continue to ensure the health and safety of our community. We urge you to remain resilient and show compassion. We need people across all sectors and communities to pull together as we tackle this global challenge.

Kin On continues to closely monitor the developing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak in Washington State. To date, we do not have any cases of COVID-19 at our community.

Governor Jay Inslee and the Department of Health announced new guidelines for senior care and assisted living facilities on Mar. 10, 2020. We are pleased to report that most of our current policies meet or exceed the State’s mandates, and will need very few changes to heightened our infection control practices and protocols.

The news about the spread of this new disease is concerning for us all. We understand it can be difficult to limit the time family spends together. Our goal is to protect the safety of our residents, their families, as well as our staff and their families. Our social workers are working with family members to arrange FaceTime or Zoom calls to connect with their loved ones.

Additional measures continue to be in place at our facilities, as follows:

Keeping a record of other facilities where our staff is working.
Document the screening of all staff for fever and respiration symptoms at the beginning of each shift.
Allowing only essential resident visits that have been pre-arranged and screened (to take place at the resident’s room.)

We will continue to monitor information and guidance from the Washington State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and are working with state and local public health and emergency preparedness officials to prevent the illness and strengthen our preparation for a possible outbreak.

Out of an abundance of caution, we are taking proactive steps to protect the health of our community.

As of March 7, 2020, we are restricting all visitations as one of the heightened protective measures in an effort to keep our residents and staff safe amidst the increasing risk of coronavirus in our region. We respectfully ask all individuals to refrain from visiting the Kin On community (skilled nursing and supportive housing) at this time. Family members and designees will be contacted directly by Kin On staff.

We understand these actions will have a tremendous impact on the lives of people in our community. Our care team, which includes our Administrator, Medical Director, Director of Nursing, and Infection Prevention and Control Officer, made this decision in consultation with local health officials. We ask for your understanding and support as such measures can minimize any health risks and ensure the safety of our residents, staff, and community.

We will continue to host activities residents enjoy daily with our staff, keeping all of us physically and mentally engaged and healthy. We will do everything we can to continue protecting the health and safety of our community.

While the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is a rapidly changing and fluid situation, we are committed to keeping our community informed and updated on the actions we’re taking to protect our health, safety, and well-being.

To date, there have been no reported cases or interruption of services resulting from coronavirus at Kin On. We are continuing to monitor the coronavirus situation very closely to ensure we are taking all appropriate measures to protect our communities, residents, and employees.

What we’re doing

Providing nursing staff and private-paid caregivers at SNF and Supportive Housing with additional “infection prevention and control” training.
Limiting residents’ personal visits outside of the facility, except medical-related visits.
Restricting family visits to residents’ DPOA or designees.
Screening visitors for signs and symptoms and requiring the use of hand sanitizer and face mask before entering the facility.
Increasing housekeeping duties, such as wiping down door handles and commonly used surfaces.
Suspending all Healthy Living Program and volunteer activities.
Ensuring adequate support for in-home care clients and caregivers.

What you can do

Wash hands often with soap and water. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. If not available, use hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid contact with people who are sick.
Stay home while you are sick and avoid close contact with others.
Cover your mouth/nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing.
Those over 60, particularly with underlying health conditions, and those who are pregnant should stay home and avoid large gatherings as much as possible.
