We strongly condemn the surge of racially-motivated violence against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are outraged and saddened by recent events, and we grieve for all who have suffered loss and pain.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Stop AAPI Hate and Asian Americans Advancing Justice have collectively reported more than 3,000 cases of anti-Asian incidents. The horrific fact is that members of the AAPI communities, especially the elderly, are experiencing discrimination, physical assault, and verbal harassment at an alarming and disturbingly high rate.

As an organization that honors, supports, and advocates for our Asian elders and families, we have a responsibility to the communities we serve not just to denounce acts of anti-Asian hate, violence, and harassment but to reject systemic racism and xenophobia.

We cannot be silent when anyone in our community experiences violence and hatred. We must speak out against racist acts and stand united in active opposition to injustices. No one should ever be terrorized in their daily life.
